St Luke's Cookery School is located on the ground floor of the Centre, and offers cookery classes in a bright and airy kitchen space with extensive modern facilities. All proceeds from hiring the Cookery School go towards running community cookery projects for local residents. See our brochure here.

Why not make your own lunch or dinner at our Cookery School as part of your event?

This is a fun team-building and learning experience which will get everyone involved. We can arrange bespoke corporate events for up to 20 people. Create an Italian feast in a two-hour session with a private teacher over lunchtime. Alternatively, book a slot at the end of your event and make authentic Spanish tapas, followed by a glass of wine. Or have fun making mouth-watering cocktails! We offer cooking demonstrations by experienced chefs, showing how to make sushi, the perfect steak, homemade chocolate and other yummy foods. You name it, we can organise it!

St Luke’s also offers smaller meeting rooms, with high ceilings and contemporary furniture, and lots of natural daylight. These are bright, spacious rooms with capacity recommended (for boardroom/hollow square table style) up to 16 people. There's also our Garden Seminar room, a small, functional meeting room on the ground floor of the Community Centre. Room layout is boardroom style for up to eight people.

Within easy walking distance of Old Street, Angel and Barbican tube stations and many bus routes, we have modern, well-appointed spaces for any meeting or event. We understand the uncertainty of booking a room. We have adapted our T&Cs so you can cancel with a full refund a week before your event.

What we do and who we help

We are a community hub in South Islington providing services, activities and events for local residents of all ages, including after school clubs, employment support and gardening for older people. Our large, modern community centre on Central Street is a great backdrop for our varied activities and we have several outdoor areas for visitors to enjoy. Our spaces are also available to hire for community groups or private functions.
Garden Room

The largest of our meeting rooms, the Garden Room has its own private entrance from the street and exclusive use of a terrace garden. It is a blank canvas to create the right setting and configuration for your event, and benefits from neutral, stylish décor and is flooded with dappled natural light.

Do you live in our area of benefit? You could become a member at St Luke's for a one-off charge of just £5. Our Centre offers services and activities every day for all ages, including art, exercise and gardening groups and a daily lunch club.
Lunches at St Luke's

Islington locals who are over 55 can enjoy a subsidised, freshly-made three-course lunch at St Luke's every weekday in our dining room. The menu changes daily, and includes a roast on Wednesday and fish and chip Friday! Anyone with mobility issues can discuss transport to and from the Centre with us. Find out more here.

Families and Children in South Islington

We offer a range of free activities and support for families living in south Islington. From free after school kids' clubs, giving children the opportunity to try different activities, to school holiday camps, there's something to suit every family. Find out what St Luke's has to offer.
The Loft

The Loft occupies the whole third floor of the Community Centre, and has exclusive use of an entrance (ante) room, kitchen area and toilet, within this spacious and versatile area. It is bright and airy, and ideal for meetings, conferences, training, seminars or less formal events. Its exposed Victorian steel beams and skylight windows offer wonderful views over the roof tops of London.
