Would you like some one-to-one mentoring on basic computing and using a smart phone?

ClickSilver is an award-winning one-to-one mentoring project designed to give older people an opportunity to learn and understand more about basic computing. This can include using email and social media, feeling comfortable and secure online, understanding how documents work and where to find and store them. It can also help understanding how their smartphone works and how to download pictures of loved ones onto a computer.

Funded by Capital One, this is an established confidence-building programme that tackles the issue of digital isolation in our communities. Business in the Community have been managing this programme in Nottingham for six years and have engaged more than 900 participants and mentors. ClickSilver is the most popular student volunteering activity at Nottingham Trent University, with many students returning to mentor further participants.

Sessions will start on Thursday 26th October and will run for 6 weeks between 3-5pm. They will take place at St Luke's Community Centre, 90 Central Street, EC1V 8AJ. You need to be available for ALL of the sessions:

26 Oct - St Luke's Community Centre session 1

2 Nov - St Luke's Community Centre session 2

16 Nov - St Luke's Community Centre session 4

For the London pilot programme we are looking for students who would like to be a mentor and have a willingness to develop their empathy and communication skills with an older generation, but above all have the ability to remain very patient and develop a supportive bond with the person they mentor.
